10 Steps total
SQLite import with Firefox From the course: Database Clinic: SQLite. I'll show how to use the SQLite manager for Firefox. If you haven't already downloaded the California population projection. SQLite Manager does not work with v11. Until you make it easier to revert to older versions or stop new versions breaking most add-ons I won't use Firefox.
Step 1: BACKUP
Before playing with the database BACKUP!
If you break it Spiceworks might not support you in fixing it.
Either follow the instructions for a full SpiceWorks Backup http://community.spiceworks.com/help/Backup or copy the DB file to a safe location.
Step 2: Add SQLite Manager to firefox
First we need a database browser in this example we will use FireFox SQLite Manager
You can download it from
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5817
Step 3: Allow the install
Click the add to firefox button and click install now
Step 4: Restart Firefox to enable the plugin
Step 5: Open the SQLite manager
Tools - SQLite Manager
Step 6: Select the file type of all files
You need to do this to see the database
Step 7: Select the database
There are two places it could be
32bit os - C:Program FilesSpiceworksdbspiceworks_prod.db
64bit os - C:Program Files (x86)Spiceworksdbspiceworks_prod.db
64bit os - C:Program Files (x86)Spiceworksdbspiceworks_prod.db
Step 8: Your in
The first tab shows the tables
Step 9: 2nd
Allows you to browse / search the database tables
Step 10: 3rd
Allows you to execute sql
REMEMBER if you break it Spiceworks probably wont support it!

- DatilTino Todino Mar 4, 2010 at 03:36amWhoops, commented on the wrong how-to :(You are still a cheat Andy ;)Nice firefox extension and how-to. I'll peruse the database in order to help facilitate some SQL reports I want to write.Watch this space.
Thanks Andy - PimientoTony_Jennings Mar 26, 2010 at 04:53amExcellent !
This allowed me to easily pop in to the database and tidy up some incorrect email addresses in the users list.
You also suggested the SQLite Browser in your other post, but I would say the add-on for Firefox (you describe above) beats it hands down. - Thai PepperEmerson Leal Aug 18, 2010 at 12:00pmI confess that wasn't known for me, a very helpfull tool. Keep on this way!
- SerranoPeter K. Mar 31, 2011 at 04:44pmInvaluable how to when you're creating custom reports etc from SQL. Thanks for taking the time to put it together.

- MaceTexkonc Jun 2, 2011 at 10:33pmHave used it a few time in the last few moths. Stupid hands typing faster than my brain processes before hitting submit.
- SonoraFred8976 Jun 15, 2011 at 10:46amIn WIndows 7 one needs to run FireFox as administrator else you get the error NS_ERROR_STORAGE_IOERR where it claims file is either corrupted or encrypted.
- JalapenoChrisBln Jun 16, 2011 at 01:31amThanks Andy,
this how-to just saved me a lot of extra work! - ChipotleDutch-Marco Oct 24, 2011 at 04:18ami have been trying this to add information like mac adrerss but everytime i change it the database gets corrupted, i do make backups before i start working on it so thats no problem.
but is it even possible to add information and save it to the database? or does spiceworks have to be completely shut down when you make changes to the database?also what type of database is the spiceworks database, mysql? or a diferent one? - PimientoRPH Nov 17, 2011 at 02:49pmI believe it uses SQLite (http://www.sqlite.org).
- Jalapenomacsiccar Apr 30, 2012 at 10:01amThanks, needed this :-)
- Thai PepperEdwin Jul 10, 2012 at 10:12amSweet now I am a report Builder :)
- SonoraAirFireStone Oct 2, 2012 at 04:16pmIf you encounter an error about 'corrupted or encrypted', try launching firefox as an administrator, then connect to the DB file. it worked for me, thank you all sooo much!
